Pull up a stool. These are the questions every newcomer asks the innkeeper - and the answers he gives, word for word, so he may finally drink his own ale in peace.

1.First Steps

How do I start playing?
Three steps and you're by the fire: sign the guestbook to create an account, forge a character from your account ledger, then fetch the client from the Downloads shelf, point it at our realm and log in.
Which client do I need?
Only the one we hand you. Everything required - client and IP settings alike - waits on the Downloads page. Clients dragged in from elsewhere may not find our door at all.
Is it really free to play?
Every copper of it. Eclipse is a free, fan-made Open Tibia server - no purchase is ever required to play. The shop exists for those who wish to toss a coin to their tavern.

2.Problems with the Client

The auto-updater refuses to do its job
If you restarted the client and it still won't update itself, walk these steps in order:
  1. Close the client completely.
  2. Make sure you have the freshest parcel from the Downloads page.
  3. Delete the Eclipse folder from appdata: %appdata%/Eclipse.
  4. Check whether you unzipped anything out of data.zip - if so, delete it all (data/modules/layouts/init) from the main game folder. The archive must stay sealed; an unpacked data.zip will not work.
  5. Download the client files directly:
    1. Data.zip
    2. DX Client
    3. GL Client
  6. Move the freshly downloaded data.zip into the main client folder and into %appdata%/Eclipse/Eclipse.
  7. Open the game - the road should be clear again.
The client greets me with 0xc000007b or a vcruntime140.dll error
Your machine is missing a Microsoft library, not anything of ours. Download and install the Visual C++ vc_redist package from Microsoft, then start the client again.
The client stutters and lags on the march
Some video cards quarrel with the GL client - switch to the DX client instead. If the stutter persists, open Options → Graphics and enable walk FPS synchronization.

3.Accounts & Keys

I lost my password. Am I doomed?
Not while the innkeeper keeps records. Take the Lost Account road - with your recovery key or registered e-mail, your account can be pulled back from the dark.
What is a recovery key and why should I care?
It is the one skeleton key to your account: a code shown once, meant to be written down on real paper. Lose your password and your e-mail, and the recovery key is the only thing between you and oblivion. Guard it like your best loot.
Can I share my account with a friend?
No - and the Tavern Code is blunt about it. Shared, traded or bought accounts are banished without refund and without sympathy. One patron, one ledger.

4.Coin & Comfort

What are premium points?
The tavern's own currency. You get them via the Buy Points counter and spend them in the shop on wares and services. They never expire and belong to your account, not a single character.
What does Premium actually give me?
A fuller depot, a longer VIP list, market privileges and a warmer seat - the full ledger of perks is laid out on the Premium page, side by side with what a free guest gets.

5.Life in the Realm

How do I found a guild?
Walk to the guild hall, pick a worthy name and raise your banner. Any patron may found one - no premium seal required on this server.
How do I buy a house?
Browse the housing ledger to see what stands empty, then bid on it in the game itself. Keep rent in your bank coffer, or the realm will politely reclaim the keys.
Where can I read about monsters, spells and quests?
The Library shelves everything the realm knows - a bestiary of every creature, the grimoire of spells, the quest chronicle and the armory, all searchable.
I stream. Can I get on the live dock?
Aye. Open your account page, find the My Stream card and attach your Kick or Twitch channel. Prove it's yours with the one-time code and your stream joins the tavern's Streamers roster whenever you go live.

6.Trouble & Justice

Someone is breaking the rules. What do I do?
Report them through any road on the Contact page. Bring what proof you have - screenshots, names, dates. False reports are themselves a violation, so aim true.
I found a bug. Do I get to abuse it just a little?
Not even a little. Report it via Contact and earn the staff's gratitude; exploit it and earn a seat among the Exiled. Choose wisely.
I was banished. Can I appeal?
Every sentence may be appealed once, through the Contact page. State your account, the date, and your side of the tale - calmly. Shouting at the innkeeper has never once shortened a ban.
